A fare per unit, a minimum per submission, a 30 second minimum per audio file, and nothing else. You pay in advance with a pack, and only for work that succeeds.

A submission pays the fare for its units or the $0.0075 minimum, whichever is more. On Whisper large-v3: A file under 30 seconds bills as 30 seconds. The launch fare needs a launch seat and at least the size shown in units that succeed. Failed and cancelled items don't count towards it.
Cold start: expect 10 to 30 s, occasionally minutes. This is a queue, and later items in a batch ride on the same start.
These are limited beta fares, based on real GPU runs, so any of them could change before launch. Once a batch is submitted, its fares are fixed.
The $0.0075 minimum applies per submission, so one batch pays it once at most, and only when the batch is too small to reach it.

Batching saves the most on small jobs. An audio file of 18 audio minutes or more clears the minimum on its own, so it pays the same list fare alone or in a batch. A file under 30 seconds bills as 30 seconds.
An image costs one unit up to 1 MP and pro rata above that, measured from the decoded image. Audio costs one unit a minute, by the second, measured from the decoded samples and never from what the file's header claims. A file under 30 seconds bills as 30 seconds.
At submit we hold max($0.0075, sum of max_units × list fare) from your balance, so an accepted batch can always pay for itself. Holding the list fare
doesn't mean you pay it. The fares used are stored with the batch.
When the last item ends, you pay for the units that succeeded, at the launch fare if you hold a launch seat and those units reach the size shown, and the list fare otherwise. Failed and cancelled items don't count towards that size. The rest of the hold returns to your prepaid usage balance. Failed and cancelled items cost nothing, and if nothing succeeds there is no charge at all.
For example, 1,000 Real-ESRGAN images at the default max_units of 2 hold $2.00. If they are all 1 MP or under, they
charge $1.00 and $1.00 comes back.
max_units fails as too_many_units and costs nothing.A pack adds its full amount to your prepaid usage balance, which doesn't expire. Tax, where it applies, is added at checkout and doesn't come out of your balance.

The launch fare is a lower rate on money you've already paid for, so the pack adds $25 of prepaid usage balance and no more. If the seats run out before your payment lands, you keep the whole pack at list fares.
